The Eye
The rain it seemed to stop at last
Our sun turns now, to shine
I gently lift the curtain’s mast
My eyes behold in kind
Birds stay hidden in their nests
T’was not a sound we heard
The feathers of their crested breasts
Part pointedly, absurd
Our Mother Nature’s love plateaus
Ironic is her name
For she is rigid stone, below
The devil wears the blame
Horizon breaks and I do see
Dark clouds roll toward the earth
The rain picks up, a slotted key
Unlocks this storm’s rebirth
It had stopped or so I thought
The anger, it had fled
Acid rusts the iron, wrought
This hurricane, I dread.
