Tracey,

Its taken me two years and multiple failed attempts.

Realise that while smoking is not illegal, nicotine is a drug, and needs to be treated as one....The only approach that worked for me was treating my habit as an addiction....If you can find this book;

'Allen Carr's Easy Way To Stop Smoking;"

It is an extremely persuasive text....Nothing else had any other impact.

Good Luck!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

got my first quit smoking group tomorrow! just not looking forward to it as i hate groups
but there is a waiting list for 1-2-1 help
but my dr won't give me anything to help me to quit until i have been to the group! Sad

Good luck with the group 2moro, hope it helps.

P.S. There are rabbits down here stockpiling carrots - heard there could be a shortage..... Shocked

Keep working at it Tracey, one day at a time. I have to admit that after 5 weeks of non smoking I have backslid (due to emotional issues) but intend to pick myself up and just start again. You need to remind yourself constantly WHY you are doing this, otherwise you feel deprived of what has essential become for us smokers, a crutch and a comfort. We need to remember that it is an addiction and needs to be fought. Good luck hon.

Don't feel bad because you slipped back hun, at least now you have a group to help it'll be much easier giving up the weed.
You can do this hun Wink Oh just think how wonderful it'll be when you can actually taste the lovely food that you put into your mouth, your lil tastebuds will be dancing the rumba Wink
You'll feel so much healthier too sweetheart, when i stopped smoking i realised that i hadn't been taking in as much air as i should have been,i actually started to feel dizzy at times cus i was inhaling more fresh air!!
Ahhh...... wonderful Very Happy
Good luck sweetie..... you CAN do this ,your a winner!!!!!

with lots of love

you just need to keep telling yourself that you don't NEED the stuff.ie. there is nothing to give up as YOU DO NOT NEED IT.
Thats more persuasive than saying that you're giving up...it's that that makes you sensitive and moody...the idea that you're giving something up. ...and punishing yourself. Very Happy

YOu're doing all the right things, Trace! And all of these ladies have such good advice and support for you. Don't worry about small setbacks and don't punish yourself. It's a process. Stay positive. God Bless! "J"

had a really stressful day
my therapy sessions are getting more intense and bringing up too many new memories
this is gonna get worse before it gets better as we've only just started the intense therapy
been on verge of mental meltdown today
too many triggers just now! one's i thought i had delt with ie snow and others that i find too stressful to start dealing with (though will be trying to work through them shortly)Sad

i feel i am letting everyone down
but i can't handle it just now

sorry
