ya won't be seeing anymore gripes from Me on board about GoodWill Industries... cuz, I am outta there on the 18th of this month.
Many thanks to Persephone for her guidance.. and many more to those who have supported Me in decision to look elsewhere.. specifically shane ,pho, khal, wil, chordy, and prism...it's been nice to have company along the way.
Had an interview today and was surprised to know I had to take 3 accuracy tests in order to even be considered for ' interview'. These were timed tests which varied from barcoding, differentiating flaws in artwork.
The lady pushed the tests back to me and said ' are you sure you don't want to review your answers, you have 30 mins left '.. I said... yes.. score it .
100 on all 3... smilesss.
she then said ' this hasn't happened in 6 years'.. I said..well admittedly i have a small problem with attention to detail.. lol. she laughed and said ' halleluiaaaaa'
Next lady came in and said ' how long of a notice do you have to give beause our orientation session begins next friday , with first scheduled shift the following monday. I smiled and said.. not that I need to give one since this an 'at will' state, but in fairness I will give them one week.
she then asked Me one question only.. and it was.....
why should I hire you ? ..(nd I hate those questions.. I hate the uneasiness of what NEXT question will/might be).. and without even thinking about it I just blurted out... 'strength of a team is determined by the strength of the leadership and I am vying for this position because I enjoy leading with supporting my team '..
she said be right back...
came back in the room and handed me a drug testing form and said ..
this is contingent on drug screen... but the position is your's right now if you want it, and it saves me the time of interviewing 47 more people .
I was a bit shocked... I mean a direct hire ?? with not having to wait for a call back??
... so, I went back to GoodWill with a knowing smile, that I only have 5 more days left .
I can't even express how elated I am right now.. some of you might be able to feel it.
The hours are long ..but the reward is greater.
I won't be in chat as often anymore.. just on weekends as time allows..
but please know that many many of you I carry with Me always, and I truly need to do this to get more settled financially.

Congratulations my friend!!! I knew that if you were persistent and patient that it would all work out for the best. I knew you were smart, but geeeezzzzz 100%! That's my buddie. We spoke earlier and now that your weekends aren't going to be tied up, we will make some plans on getting you out here for a visit. I know X is waiting for me to make it out for karaoke! Orientation went very well. Basically a briefing on company policies , what exactly it is MidWest Tapes provides for it's customers , getting muh pic taken for muh new work badge * showing it off*.... drooling over a signed poster of Jordana Brewster, .. meeting a few reps who are on site who work directly with Warner Brothers , Carolco Studios, Miramax, etc. That was fun !!
..wandering into the graphics department ( where I was lookin for restroom) and running smack dab into this lil cutie , or should I say she ran into My chest .. HA HA . and I said ' wellllllll nice to meet you too dear, while she blushed and said the restrooms are that way '... ya'll dun even know HOW TEMPTED I was to say ' hmm, care to join Me? .. but, considering we had JUST FINISHED going over sexual harrassment policies, I said to self ya jus got the job.. give it awhile ' hehehe.
one of the perks of job is.... I can buy dvd's before the released street dates at minimal cost, as well as borrow dvd's.
All benefits kick in after 30 days .. barring 401k , gotta be there a year for that which is common practice.
o0h, and the owner believes in this philosophy.. provide for employees and they will provide for me . He pays 75% of premiums for health coverage through Aetna , and the employees pick up the other 25% if they wish to have it. As much overtime anyone wants to pick up . After 30 days I get a review and if work ethics are satisfactory , at their discretion there is an increase in wages of .75 per hour. and yearly thereafter of .75-1.50. That's just about damn unheard of !!
Just as an fyi, this company is the premiere supplier of movies, dvd's , books on tapes for public libraries and colleges in the country. Sorry girls.. no porn or erotica. so, if your local library doesn't have what your kids want ... tell em to contact MidWest Tapes.
I start on Monday .. and am stoked !!!!!!!
