OMG! OMG! OMG! OMG! I DID IT, I FRIGGEN DID IT!!!
I am 39 years old and have been hiding in my deep, dark, lonely closet for close to 20 years, and I finally came out to my parents last night.
It could not have gone any better. It even went better than what I thought the best case scenario would be. They were wonderful, really wonderful, and absolutely fine with it. They had even discussed the possibility that I was gay with each other in the past, and had agreed it would not be an issue. (Wish I had known that---LOL) I have been dreading and fearing this moment for so friggen long. This is so freeing. I literally felt that I could breathe better today, that my lungs could actually expand easier. Weird, huh?
I have to credit Mels and all the wonderful women here for helping me get to this point. Especially my lovely lady Jacina. She has given me so much support and advice and is usually right in her thoughts and views on a subject, in fact it gets pretty annoying how right she is all the time (LOL---I love you, baby) My new life is finally really starting now, and the best part, is that she is part of it.

I can absolutely understand how difficult it must have been to say those four dreaded words: "Mom, I am gay". as I did it last year, two weeks after my 40th birthday...
I am EXTREMELY glad that it went well...and this just goes to show...what our parents want most for us, is that their children should be happy

Dark, congrats to you!!!!!! I am so happy for you.
Unfortunately, I came out and admitted that to my folks a while back, and theyre so against it. Oh well, to each their own I guess. I am proud of myself and I know what i want for myself, although I am only Bi.

Jack---It is somehow poetic that you were the first person to reply to my introductory thread (3 months ago), and you are the first to reply to this one. We have a lot of history already, and I really do appreciate your help and support during this time in my life. Thanks friend.

Forthe---Treat myself to something I want? Hmmmm, I think that is a great idea, but honestly the only thing I can think of is getting to see Jacina. I would never have been able to explain why I wanted to go to Australia to my parents before, but now that they know, they are all for it, so that possibility is certainly alot closer and more real, and that makes me happier than anything. I really appreciate your response, thank you.

angelspirit---The one thing that saddens me about this is that not all parents respond the way mine have. That fear of a negative response made me hide this for almost 2 decades. It's so sad that not all parents can just love and accept. I do truly count myself lucky.
