I was inspired by a conversation I had with a good friend last Friday online. She was chatting about her home, and this gave me the idea for this. Both she and another good friend have goaded, nagged, badgered and cajoled me into this, so here it is, my first ever poem. I would love to hear any constructive criticisms you have, as I want to see if I can improve. I hope you think it’s ok.

The place we call Home

Why do we love them?
Our places called home
It’s the people we know
And the friends we invite
To our small little world
That we call home
Where we know we feel safe
And secure as well
Behind our own four walls
We call our home
In our corner of the world
From where we live
And plan our lives
We know as home
Which we furnish with comforts
That we know we like
To bring to life
What we want of our home
We try our best
With colours and fabrics
Imaginations creation
We want as our home
But the best thing of all
Is that we can shut the door
To our own little world
Where we feel secure
And that is why I love my own sweet home

I think this is wonderful.
I think you have captured the security people have and the safety of not changing .People have fears of something new and i think thats what ur poem is trying to say.Thats what ur poem says to me.
I especially love the line "imaginations creation"
It conveys to me that dreams that we keep to ourselves can maybe come true

What a great start!
Your home should be idyllic: deserves roses
around the welcoming door, sparkling window panes,
the aroma of fresh bread from the kitchen and the
laughter of kids secure in a loving atmosphere.
