I am Laurian and live in Belgium. I am 34 and a teacher by profession. I work with children who have autism.
After browsing around on this forum for months I found myself in need of replying some of the posts here.
It is unbelievable sweet to see how the interaction is and how much support you give.
I hope I can do my part on this forum and thank you for making it possible to share...

Hey Cavewoman,
thank you for the welcome!
and I love a party.
A good one needs some downs,
so we can bring it up again.
And throw in some good tunes...
I am such a music lover.
... ah shared sentiments... them too!

Welcome in! Just think of this place like a classy lounge, and you are a music lover ay! Well, how does smooth jazz sound to ya? Or, just some easy listening? Leon Redbone? Carol King? OK, just let your imagination run ....um...wild Enjoy!
And, hey, i wanted to say how nice it is that you're a teacher. And, i especially like that you work with autistic children. My best friend that i miss so much, she happens to be a teacher AND a bit autistic! So, i'm a little familiar with that sort of thing. But, believe it or not, i had no idea about autism, before i became her student! Anyway, she was a cool as heck teacher!
Sorry to get off the subject. But, just wanted to say thanks for being a teacher; because you never know how much of a positive impact you may have on those kids lives. A good teacher is a rare treasure!

Hi Storybellz,
thank you for welcoming me.
About my teaching
I was so scared in my early twenties to go from teaching 'normal' 6 to 12 year olds to working with young adolescents with a mental retardation and autism.
Today I am proud that I made that decission.
They taught me more than I have taught them
The stories I could tell...
But so do all of you I am sure!
I believe that everybody is a teacher if you think about it. The way you live your life can be a roll model for others. The things you teach your children..., the way you act with your friends,..
Above all, value your life. It is yours and you succeed in it if you are happy. And a happy person can have a huge impact on the person standing next to you.
