"Thalassa" [At Ross Links}
[a friend of mine wrote this one. I like it]
I stood at what felt like a redoubt of land,
And stared at the bleak sky that morning had left
Washed grey as the sea which pressed on the strand,
Except for the Pharos’ wink, of light bereft.
The sea put a thought of God into my mind,
For it has a fathomless myst’ry; its ways
A man cannot question, and nor can he find
An answer on his terms – he measures in days!
Sea breathes like an animal, careless of season,
And flotsam and wrack are its strangeness and spill.
A sandcastle turns to a memory. “No reason”,
Thalassa says, only “I will”, and “I will”.
