Why is it?
When I do a good job at work, instead of being complimented I am just given more responsibility? I am up to my ears in paperwork everyday and they just keep piling it up on me...
is there a way to gracefully decline more work without seeming like a slacker? _________________ 49er FAN 4 LIFE.

Kendall!
LMAO! I'm in the same situation I have more projects going on at work than I have fingers, lol...My inbox is bending
And of course, EVERYTHING is PRIORITY! So I'm always asking, what's priority over the priority over the priority, lol. Actually..it is a compliment to your work ethics. They know that they can depend on you to get the job done. I've told my dept head that I need a assistant! She doesn't think it's in the budget...Okay..then show me the $$$. I told her I'm buying her a whip for her birthday, lol
You could just tell them that you appreciate the faith that they have in you and you don't mind the work, but at the same time, you want to make sure every detail is correct and with the workflow that you have at the present, you don't think that it can be accomplished to your expectations.
Worth a try....good luck!
hugs

Well no use asking Mel or myself that one ....we are the experts at gaining more work.
Maybe we should all just work slower

the worst thing You can be is indespensible... cause You wont get moved up... . can't afford to lose you in that position... lots of business stuff on this psychology. Not saying to do a bad job, but find a way to get help, and train others to do a good job too.
just my 2 cents worth _________________ "A little work won't hurt you bad, but just in case I'm wrong, you'll be smiling when they pronounce you dead." Amanda Marshall 'This could take all night

good luck to you Kendall, I wish you the best of luck. I was in the same position until they created a new position. Now we have people to do all the "grunt" work for us!

Hi Kendall
Hi Hon,
I always remember my mother used to say that in an office if you wanted something to get done and done right, give to to the busiest person.
You should see my desk. I'm supposed to sell but I end up doing so much buying (not supposed to be my job) that I know it takes away from my sales. At the same time, if I don't do it, I won't have as much to sell.
Same old story. Hang in there kid! Delegate!
