There are some buildings which, for one reason or another, capture my imagination and become spiritual spaces for me. I was wondering which buildings had a profound effect on you.
My nominations are:
St Pancras, London - William Henry Barlow & RM Ordish, architects.
Museum of Modern Art, San Francisco - Mario Botta, architect.
I know nothing about buildings but the town that my father grew up is one of my places. All the buildings are ancient. They have not been rebuilt and I love the historical feeling it gives me when I walk thru the streets.

..one building that strikes me is St. Peter's Cathedral in New Orleans, LA...i'm not spiritual in the sense of catholicism, but the builing is spectacular....
also, a little town where i grew up holds a special place for me..It dates back to I believe the 1600's if not earlier...alot of the buildings are old and one or two of the streets are still cobblestoned, and the graveyards are amazing....it's a very quaint place...
warm hugs

The london "gherkin"
It's got to be the London Gherkin by Norman foster.
It definitely looks like it's just landed near to the tower of London.
I think It's beautiful, and like nothing else around it.
National Cathedral, Washington DC
historic residential area, Williamsburg VA
public library, Beverly, MA
The Greenbriar, WV
The Conch Cafe, Garden City,SC
those came off the top of my head but there are others. interesting post _________________ " The sorcerers in life are created within each of us" --- Lynn V. Andrews

What are my favorite buildings.
One of my favorite buildings here in the city were the Twin Towers. I used to go there just below and always was amazed at how they almost reached up to heaven. From below they were amazing. I always felt an inner peace being around there. I also like looking at the Empire State Building. It's so incredible how beautiful it looks from below. That antenna is so big and so powerful. It's like if it's reaching for an unknown site out in space. I guess I have always been touched spiritually by any site that is larger than humans. I have always wondered how can we being so small build such an enormous structure like that. It's amazing.

how interesting!
My favorite building as far at hotels is the Grove Park Inn Asheville NC. It is Mission style sits high in the blue ridge mountains and furnished with the original fixtures from 1910, has a fireplace that 10 people can stand in... the elevator is in the chimney!! The underground spa (although a new addition) is utterly fantastic. can't recommend it enough. If you have the chance, go go go.
Biltmore house (also in Asheville) is wonderful, esp at Christmas.
For powerful places all of Washington D/C's momuments, esp the Lincoln Memorial.
I haven't been to Europe yet, but I am putting those mentioned here on my list. I looked up St Pancras, it sounds like a wonderful diverse community church.
I want more buildings that have woman/lesbian connection. Anyone know of any? I want to see the sheela-na-gigs of Ireland and Britain. _________________ i am ceaslessly amazing... at times! fun loving, passionate, perfectly imperfect human being.

Believe it or not, the Regents Park Mosque in London (when I last saw it about 20 years ago)
My
least
favourite, by contrast, is the Mormon temple beside the Capital Beltway, Washington DC (or thereabouts). It is 100% Disney. Strange that 2 religious buildings are at opposite ends of my personal poll.

My favorite building would have to be the Parthenon in Athens. There's something about the antiquity of it and classical, greek style it was fashioned in that I really find very impressive and beautiful. So simple, but so powerful. _________________ >>"Someone else's pathetic fallacy just rained on my day." - me<<
