Florida
© Linda Bray

Florida warmed me in with the sun slapping at my body,
leaving it’s shadow engraved upon my flesh...
pink.
Surrounded by the mangroves, palms, fragrant tropical foliage..all waving
hello to me.
Waves of heat cascading through humid air...
early on summer days.
By afternoon everything,
everyone,
crawls almost to a
sleep,
slowing to recharge energy drained by the sun.
Rain stopping by to visit for a while,
cooling things down.
Beating down upon my brow,
a freeing feeling,

cooling even my bones.
Wading into the ocean...
the water a warm basin for me.
Sand..flour beneath my feet, soft, powdery.
Walking past rows and rows of manicured lawns,

trophies.
People off to work in their tank tops and shorts.
Less is better.
A city within a jungle,
among its residents...
sea
turtles, manatee, porpoise..
Gardenias, sweet fill my nostrils.
Splashes of color scattered about...open my eyes.
Train rolling by in the distance...clanging its bell.
All of my senses peeked by the newness of it all.
Sitting here lazily in Florida...doing nothing at all.

Calling Me
© Linda Bray

River I hear you whisper my name,
in the shade of the
palms.
A thousand stars have spilled into your bed.
I survey as they shimmer,
on the rolling waters.
You are swallowing me whole,
everywhere my vision
lands...green..rich.
Every shade emulated by man.
Kisses by the mouth of the river,
kisses salty upon my skin.
Left long ago tears cried centuries here.
I walk slowly in,
I feel your embrace,
cool and
satisfying.
I must engorge myself in you.
I emerge dripping,
stars from your bed trickling down my skin,
making way down my body..and back to your lips.
River I hear you calling me...
singing low,
singing clearly...
calling me,
almost tempting me back.
I pull myself away,
back to
the shore.

My second featured poet is Linda Bray.

Linda has provided us with a biography and some lovely poetry.

Linda's Biography

May I formally introduce myself? My name is Linda K. Bray.....bowing. It is my pleasure to meet you. I was born and raised in Texas. I also lived in Arkansas for a short time and then moved to California about 14 years ago. I began writing as soon as I could hold a pen and form words. My writing was an outlet for feelings that otherwise would never have had an outlet. I have been published in the company of Maya Angelou...by Blue Mountain Arts, Grit Magazine, National Enquirer, The Wishing Well, Homespun Publications, Silver Wings, ilovepoetry.com, creative-women.com, etc. Poetry is my first love. I am passionate about my writing, life and making love. I am a political activist, a child advocate, a tree hugging, granola eating, lesbian. I am the program director for a non-profit organization and a part-time freelance writer. I love children and animals. My favorite activities include singing, camping, dancing, writing, drumming, diamond hunting and participating in life. I am very spiritual....I love music....books...movies....friends and family. I am always open to meeting new people and making new friends. I hope that you will pull up and chair....sit a while and enjoy my poetry. If you are interested in more of my work, or in me doing a poetry reading, please feel free to contact me. I also am always open to feedback and always willing to improve. Take care and peace to you.

Dance with me
© Linda Bray

Let’s dance together you and I.
I’ll hold your warmth close to mine.
A galaxy of fire above us....sparked against a blackened sky.
Music in the air is cascading....drifting on cool mist.
Music enchanting...
slow and rhythmic, with the music we’ll sway together.
Our bodies collide as we dance.
In your ear I will whisper...my desires.
I long to hear yours whispered into the night.
As the strands of a basket, our fingers are threaded together.
My cheek...just grazes yours...slowly...softly.
Scents of night fall all around us...with the fog.
Moisture kisses our flesh..and moisture rests between our thighs.
With my tongue I’ll find the curve of your neck.
Thigh against thigh,
breast against breast,
gently I’ll
caress your back.
Soft, silken shoulders...in moonlight,
kisses and nibbles.
Clothing no longer optional...
skin to skin.
With your heart beating in rhythm with my own,

I’ll make love to you,

As we dance.
Come dance with me.

I am Yours

Linda Bray

Clear blue sea I hear you calling me,
Great Spirit rises
up out of her...
I can hear her,
I see her,
I can taste her in every breathe I take.
I feel her caressing my skin...salty.
She is healing...she is present...she is persistent.
I am joining forces with her...
embracing her sighs.
Her longing for me....I long for too.
She is mine....I am hers.
Great Spirit.....
wrap all around me....
Let my eyes, heart, soul, be open.
Guide me and allow me to follow.
Allow me to step out of the way....
here take these
reins...
They are not mine to have.
Lead me to my destiny...
I am humble...
I want to
follow...

take me...I’m yours.

Waterfall
©
Linda Bray

Stepping into this manmade waterfall....
Stem rising...
Water descending over my head.
Trickling over my naked body,
Silver droplets of water
flowing,
over my naked breasts.
I run my fingers through my long dark hair...
I sigh.
Soapy bubbles cover my hands..lathering my tanned body.
Soap, against my skin, soft and sensual.
Sweet fragrance blending with rising steam...
enticing me...I cannot resist the temptation.
Nipples erect...my hands comfort them.
Back against the wall...one foot pressed against the opposite wall.
My hand makes way between my thighs...my body rocking.
My fingers find the depth of me...
I moan.
My head tilts back...biting my bottom lip.
My own fluids blend with the water all around me..
Swirling to its end...body limp...
I slowly step out of the water and back into reality.

The Way
©
Linda Bray

Sitting across from me,
arms folded across your chest.
Deep, dark endless tunnels of anger...
within your eyes,
not wanting to let me in,
or anyone.
Afraid...not wanting anyone to know your fear...

Your secret.
Too late,
already I have sat in your chair.
Your eyes were like my eyes once were...
dead and
empty.
I played your games. Tiring...lonely..there is no winner.
Your secret...not really a secret...your eyes tell all.
Songs you silently sing,
I wrote the lyrics.
That dark tunnel...I lived there before you...
Believe me it’s not endless after all.
Follow me,
I’ll lead you out,
I know the way.

Dreams of You
©
Linda Bray

In the darkness of my room,
I am awakened...
by a fiery passion burning between my thighs.
My mind racing through a fantasy of you.
Stretching I come to life...
I slide out of my clothes...
there they are, a pile...unrecognizable.
My hands explore the curves of my own body.
My senses alive,
my breasts ache to the touch of my hands.
My fingertips glide to that place...warm and moist,

throbbing against my fingertips.
Sultry, hot...
soft moan escape my lips...
fingertips to my
mouth,
I taste my own desires...
sweet nectar.
My body arcs...rises.
Sweat upon my brow...
cascading between my full breasts.
My own sweet scent fills the air,
my body spasms...
Instant relaxation...limp, unmovable.
I sigh as my breathing returns to normal.
I lay back against my pillow...
eyes closed,
I collapse back
into a peaceful sleep...
with dreams so filled with you.
