Outlining problems

Have any of you ever "outlined yourself into a corner?" If you have, how did you get out of it? I've really overplanned a couple of storylines and made them almost impossible to write. Any ideas?

Hugs,
BB

Hey Vols Fan Smile

I agree with Alli, throw the outline out, write, then see what you have, keep the outline handy for more idea, but just write what comes out first, then worry about details later.

hey bb

i am sitting in the other corner, having outlined myself into it as well.

maybe we must swop outlines, and see what we come up with? lol. but i really need some help... i am supposed to write a whodunnit, got the crime, got the criminal, but am forced to write it without the reader knowing... supposed to give the reader a choice of suspects to choose from, but the story is such that it is rather obvious.

AAARRRGGGGHHHHHHHHH....

regards
a bald ghost

Awwww, ghost...

I suppose it's you and me as the charter members of Outliners Anonymous! When I wrote the first part of Cloak and Dagger, I didn't use an outline at all...and it sort of evolved. I hadn't made up my mind about the various "bad guys" until I got to a certain part of the story. I guess I need to go back to writing that way, but it feels a bit like skydiving without a parachute, LOL!

Sway,

I guess it's all about mindset...I did it once, I should be able to do it again, lol. Oh, and that whole Husky patronage of yours...that's a mindset too, LOL!

*running for cover*
