Self-Embrace

Been sober
Since late October
Of last year

Some things change
I still can't sing
But there's less fear

I've started to write
And gain some insight
But still hide from the mirror

It's hard not to look back
And stay on the right track
When you're changing gears

Still it's one year down
With another coming around
And I find myself here

In this quiet solitude
Where no one can intrude
And taste the salt of my tears

As they flow down my face
Myself, I've embraced
After all of these years

Truly heart warming. A self embrace is so the source of your vitality.
Congratulations, well done, hurrah!

Rachelle,
Out of all the poetry I have read, your poems are the ones I can relate to all to the most.
And I thank you for writing them and sheding such insight on some pretty tough topics.
*smiles*
~Cheers, Jack

jack---my northern friend.
you honestly have just made my day and in all liklihood my week. i have always appreciated your comments, insight and especially your writings. i will attempt to write today as YOU have just inspired me---but let me give you fair warning it will probably be a happy/sappy poem, God help me (if she's listening)-------lots of love and a big hug for you-------Also, jack---have you ever heard the song Northern Lad by Tori Amos--it is absolutely beautiful" Had a northern lad, not exactly had. He moved like the sunset, God who painted that.....Girls youv'e got to know when it's time to turn the page, when your'e only wet because of the rain..."----it's an absolutely perfect song! Find it you'll love it-----------hugs, rachelle
