I sit here in the calm after the fiery storm
Strumming my guitar strings
After thinking about the pound of flesh I gave in my life time,
For the survival of cancer, such an ugly disease
I glide my fingers down the cold steel strings
I strum….
Searching for a melody
That would drown out this small town’s viscous tongue
I let out a deep breath, to release the toxins out of my temple
It knows that God didn’t punish my soul
And I strum….
Can I hum away the agonizing memories?
I do not know but I have to try
I embrace this smooth wooden instrument
That has lifted up my spirit
I strum away as past battles go floating by
And I strum…
These slick strings and chords don’t care of what I am
They submit themselves unto my story, my song
And I strum…..
It doesn’t bother them that I embrace my own gender
My guitar plays they same, with such love and harmony
Each and every note are my unbiased friends
Even when all else fails
Or maybe the clouds rain out my sunshine
I strum….
My guitar does not care about politics, right or wrong,
It just abides with me none the less
And tells me to never give up just to go on
And strum……

Glad you liked and also glad you didn't find any typos. lol. This was the beginning recovery of unterine cancer. So for the longest time I was too weak to hold my arms up to play. Thank goodness that is all over with now.
