planting trees

this someone you said
would never amount to anything
despite the odds
stacked like building blocks
mostly consisting of your abusive lies
and deceptions
found a way to tumble and crumble cedar words
one by one

I found the exit from disbelief
into a world of unending possibilities
and built my life
dream by dream
without the prison of bitter vines
where tangled in a world
of self made hatred
you gifted your daughter.

with pride and dignity
a forest of integrity
and a smile made of willow
with a love you'll never understand
i simply decline.

Wink

hey dance! ty!

i've been trying to figure out how to answer that question without it being a ramble, Rolling Eyes

but the poem can be written only because i spent years upon years in therapy trying to undo the damage, and heal the wounds of abusive words the ripped apart the core of the little girl i was.

sometimes even when you've risen above it..it's still a lifelong process.

when i read your poem, it inspired me to write this one.
i think a lot of us have backgrounds that give us much common ground and makes it so easy to identify with what is expressed through poetry.
i could really identify with you hun.

hope that answers ur question without rambling. lol

linda, ty for the encouragement..it seems the deeper you dig inside yourself, the deeper the impact you have with words.

this one reaches through me!

appreciate you gals immensely!

take care,

fawnie

Fawnie, that one really took me back. I can relate to every single word. If you ever need to talk about your past or what you went through, send me a private message. I went through so much at such a young age, and it stripped all my confidence away. I had to build it back brick by brick, all alone, and then with my friends and girlfriend who became family, and in the end I can look back and say that I'm better for having gone through everything I did. I'd never want to do it over again, but I'm glad I am who I am today. If you need somebody to talk to, let me know. Great poem!! Keep writing! Very Happy

i cant say that i understand this poem completely, i do however enjoy the way you wrote it, and the flow of the words, and the ice quality of sound in your poem. sometimes the exact meaning isn't the most important part of a poem, good write. Exclamation
