Humor and Pain

Every day I wonder where cruelty and hatred comes from,
Where badgering and bad-mouthing begins...
I never realized that it stems from head to toe,
In an ever-flowing never-changing afterglow,
Of a soul bouncing off of a soul leeching onto another soul.
Angry, unwelcoming, demonic.
And I continue to wonder.
Wondering, wandering, wavering,
In your green grass fields of humility and indecision.

And I wonder...

How much humor and pain can be held within the body?
In the body of a man?
In the body of a woman?
In the body of a god?
In the body of a goddess?
In the body of all the somewhere-in-betweens?
How much humor and pain can be reflected
from the backside of a mirror?

Shattered pieces of reality break me when I realize,
That not everything is at it seems,
Sometimes things really are as bad as my paranoia lets me think,
Sometimes people are fucked up...
A lot of the time people are fucked up,
And where does it stem from?
Soul-leeching?
Soul-searching?

Forget about souls!
Forget about the topsy turvy feeling that you get,
When you realize that you've been wronged,
Or that you have wronged someone else.
You have a story to tell,
Tell your damn story,
Your sad stories of pain...

::sigh::

Fuck the pain!
Forget about the pain,
Tell your story of humor.
Tell us all how funny it is that you're such an asshole.

Great poem! I particuarly love the line 'ever-flowing never-changing afterglow'. I can really relate to the feeling behind the poem. Just not so good at putting things into words as you are Smile
