You turned up at my door one night
it was so cold, icy, dark and grey
and when you growled I wondered-
just what I should do, or say
your size was enormous and muscular
your jaws were huge and wide
I wondered for a moment-
if you'd swallow me down inside
then when I crouched down beside you
and I looked into your beautiful dark brown eyes-
I knew that you couldn't possibly be vicious
your burly look was just a big disguise
you were so cold and you were shaking
'oh my goodness' I thought, what should i do?
I ran quickly into the kitchen
and prepared a huge feast just for you
Still nervous and apprehensive were you
but you stepped into the warmth of the hall-
the smell of the feast was much too tempting
and in no time you had devoured it all
Now what's the next step I wondered
I couldn't bear to send you out into the cold-
better bed you down until the morning
and we'll see then what unfolds
As i walked into the room the next morning
you greeted me and wagged your tail-
you still looked rather bedraggled
and i could see that you still looked so frail
Just then you started to shake, you were scared
and worry took over my thoughts-
but then you seemed to recover quickly
you still looked sad and rather distraught
I decided that I wanted to keep you
how could I just let you go-
the day was so cold and so windy
and it had already began to snow
You became a loving part of my family
I loved you with all of my heart-
it broke my heart the day the angels came for you
that day you were so frail you had to depart
there's never a single day that goes by
where thoughts of you don't bless my mind-
your love stayed here with me in my heart
My dearest beloved dog "Sand"
the most beautiful pet that i ever did find.
I wrote this poem for my dear dog "Sand" she developed cancer of her lymph glands, at just 2 years old she went back home into the care of the angels.
(((((((I love you Sand)))))

Angel, I have no doubts that you and Sand were meant to be a part of each other's lives, if only for a short time. We are truly blessed when we share our hearts and homes with animals.
