My Poem "Make Your Peace With The Sand"
Blustery,
The Love I feel for her
is blustery,
as we
lay enveloped in the
setting sun,
her lips
tasting of strawberry juices,
thick and ripe
like a fresh fruit
only indigenous to Venus.
I watch
our friend and foe,
do dances in a never-ending
freshly fallen snow,
as her skin becomes
a carmel color of such,
mimicking perfect sunshine.
me,
as a child,
at the beach,
the smell of sunblock,
thick and white,
never rubs in
just right,
building temporary
sand castles,
lugging plastic neon buckets
full of water to secure it,
although the handles
always broke off,
i would always dig a deep moat
around my kingdom,
so no opposing armies
could come in
and steal my fair princess
away,
so no one could grasp her gaze,
silence her euphoric haze,
but as sand does,
it always swallowed
my moat,
the water inside of it,
i always wanted concrete,
some security,
that the water would last,
but as in life,
the sand will always,
swallow up the water,
you can choose to keep
filling up
the neon buckets
and lugging them back to your moat,
or,
you can make your peace
with the sand.........
