Think About It
When you grew up
did you ever throw-up?
Were you a tomboy or a princess?
Did you ever think you were less?
There was this little girl
with bluey eyes and a blondish curl.
Her hands were tough
And her feet were rough.
And she loved to rock and roll.
Do you know who I'm talking about?
Was this you?
A tiny tyke grown up to be a dyke.
With all the boys fawning
and every new day dawning
with a perfect riddle
or a perfect rhyme.
And life seemed so perfect.
Did you know what you really were?
Aside from the others' slang and slur:
tomboy, weirdo, man-hater, lezzie, and all
the other mean words.
Did you?
Or were you blind
when you listen to others whine?
They did not know what they were getting into.
They did not know a Navy from a Pinto.
These were the idiots of nasty yesteryear.
And you knew you had the correct gear.
And when you flourished from being a little Star
to becoming who you are,
You found that those morons left not a scar,
And they haven't gotten very far.
Whatever, whomever, however,
it doesn't matter ever.
You will be you,
And you will connect with any kind of hue.
