Beauty
So fully empty
So beautifully ugly
Alone in the crowd
You cannot be named
Magnetic in your repulsiveness
Attractive in your distaste
You have a chip on your shoulder
An empty swagger in your walk
A sneer on your face
People stop in the street
Turning to look at you
Then recoil and hurry on
Shaken by the emptiness
The bleakness in your eyes
You are there
And you are not
A shell of what could have been
Stripped of all that could be
Imperfectly perfect
Attractive in your plainness
Strong in your weakness
Gently fierce
You are empty of pretence
A knowing laughter in your eyes
A living gem of what is
And a promise
Of everything that can be
Some call you plain
Some pass you by
For your empty sisters
You do not attract stares
No one braves the crowd
To ask you to dance
But when you smile
Just for that special someone
Then the world stops for a moment
Two women
Each named Beauty
So different
One is Nothing
The other Everything
One will break your soul
The other will mend it
So tell me now
Which is the beautiful one? _________________ M段llumino d段mmenso~Giuseppe Ungaretti

What I was trying to show here mostly, was the difference between the Hollywood standards, an empty and unnatural beauty, and beauty the way nature intended. Too many people look at the face, and not the spirit.
Thank you Lori, beauty is indeed not always in the eye of the beholder.
Eire, yes, everything has its own beauty. But some beauty is meant to be put on a shelf, and some to be held and loved.
Thank you for the kind words Mdm!
Jack, I am glad that you think I have talent! While I may disagree to some extent, I'll take the warm fuzzies it gives me! _________________ M段llumino d段mmenso~Giuseppe Ungaretti

Thank you Silly, that is what I was aiming for, and may have slightly missed, with this poem. So many women are pretty, but there's just nothing behind that prettiness to get to know. Others wouldn't catch a second glance if it wasn't for the absolute passion and strength in their spirit. _________________ M段llumino d段mmenso~Giuseppe Ungaretti

Subversive,
This one reminds me of that movie, the mirror has two faces..which I loved. It's a cool poem.

Thank you Poetic! I've never seen that movie though, is it worth finding and watching?
I don't usually try to show a "point" with most of my poems, so I'm glad this one came out ok. _________________ M段llumino d段mmenso~Giuseppe Ungaretti
