As I write this, it is the middle of the night ... that magical time halfway between dusk and dawn, when the sky is pitch black save for a few stars. This is the time of the crickets and the bats, and occasionally the misguided mosquito, drawn to the flame of my candle.
I have a big journey ahead of me tomorrow: physically, mentally, and spiritually. It is an important day for my family as well ... one for reflection and remembrance, perhaps one for moving on.
I am reminded especially tonight of how many wise souls have touched my life, how many precious teachers I have had. I err over and over again, yet somehow, they find the basic goodness in my ignorance. Some of these teachers have been family members, some have become dear friends; some have changed my life. To all of them, I say, "Thank you."

Thank You
I don’t know how to repay you
For all you’ve done for me
You found that light inside me
And taught me to let it shine
And when that light would flicker and fade
You gave it the spark to glow and grow
Thank you for
Being that ray of sunlight
When my storm cloud gets too gray
Listening to my heart trying to discover what its trying to say
Because of you I think I’ll be all right
Because you give me the strength to fight
Wisdom it breeds peace
And peace it breeds love
Love it breeds hope
And Hope it lives in you and you pass it on
Thank you for
Being that ray of sunlight
When my storm cloud gets too gray
Listening to my heart trying to discover what its trying to say
Because of you I think I’ll be all right
Because you give me the strength to fight
You know you changed my life
Taught me to love myself
Gave me my own set of wings then taught me how to fly
So I could fly away
