Sick and Tired of Lesbians...

The world is more than rainbows. I am sick and tired of lesbians who prefer to surround themselves with other lesbians only. Their social skills seem inept at relating to anyone other than gay. Step out from under that rainbow. Let the world know that lesbians can be pretty cool people.

I've been saying this for quite some time Mdm. I'm a person who happens to be a lesbian not a lesbian that happens to be a person. lol

If I could retweet or "ilike" this post, I seriously seriously would!
Lesbians are actually one of the least favorite people I hang out with in real life. And living where I live I have the ability of just meeting people and finding out later on in the conversation their preferences just happen to lean towards women... but most often I find myself friends with bisexuals. They are more laid back and fun than involved in their little worlds.
Eh, sex is sex and I'm lucky to have friends with anyone.

Well said Smile I couldn't agree with you more Cat.

I'm a woman first and foremost, who just happens to be lesbian....but I certainly don't want to surround myself with only lesbian friends.

I prefer diversity and can't stand the 'scene!'

Love you baby

Cat,

As you know I completely i agree with you. My life doesn't revolve around the gay world neither does my circle friends. The world is about variety!

Thank you for voicing your frustration.

Hugs and love

Jan

Ladies,
Awesome topic. I totally agree with you.

I seem to have a more diverse array of friends now than ever before.

Those that live under a rainbow only banner are missing out on what diversity really means.

I personally have friends in a multitude of categories if they need a label.

Other than my Mels ladies, I truly do not have any lesbian friends. Certainly none that are close enough to drop by for coffee ...

If I chose to only befriend and hang out with only those like me, Id be a very loney person indeed.

With that said, Anyone for some coffee? Some lesbian company would be greatly appreciated. LOL

I agree that there are so many rich and nourishing layers to diversity that by focusing on one and only one, we miss out on all of the other possibilities.

At the same time, though, we should be careful about uniting ourselves around that which we are "against". It is often helpful to go beyond this sticking point and instead help to create the communities which we so desire.

Glad to hear your views. I only have 3 lesbian friends whom I don't see very often. I'm happy I struck a note with you.

I know that you prefer diversity. I, too, do not do the lesbian "scene". I've only been to one lesbian bar and was uncomfortable, to say the least.

I love you,

Thanks for your input. What a dull world it would be if we hid under that rainbow.

Nice to see you here. I'm not sure exactly what you meant by "that which we are against". I'm not against anyone, so I'm open to befriending any and all.

Mdm,

I agree with you also. My gf and I have had a couple not so great encounters with lesbian couples. We are friends with a few gays/lesbians & will hang out once in a while, but none that are like what you describe. Our friends, no matter who they may be, are just people, our friends. If they happen to be gay or lesbians, than so be it Smile

Besides, when you live in small town red neck USA, you can't live like you described anyhow ~ you'd never leave the house! LOL

Laughing

I wasn't really going to comment of this thread Mdm but it did get me thinking. Coming from the other end of things, ie being almost a lifetime in the closet, virtually ALL my friends were straight. Even when I lived with my ex in the States we had a very closed lifestyle.

So it wasn't till a year ago when I did a course for women coming out that i made a circle of gay acquaintances and began attending some events and the gay watering hole where I live. And I have to say that the exhileration, relief and just plain comfort I get from being with others like me has been enormous. No, the pub/club scene is especially not for me at my age but sometimes I go just to sit and soak in the atmosphere. It makes me feel.........validated? less alone? part of a whole?

So of course I still have my old friends but there are most certainly times when I just want to hang out with my gay friends and be able to relax into who I am.

So, I guess it's like everything in life, you need a bit of this and bit of that! Smile
