Did you ever notice the more one person talks the less others listen ? Do any of you have an example of this ?

Interesting post...

In sales, they say you have about 8 seconds to make your point...and they say that you have the attention of kids for about 5 seconds, then they tune you out.

Also, the softer you speak, the more people will pay attention, so they say.

Cat,

I had a boss who was a mountain of a man and when ever we had a meeting he would speak so low we could hardly hear him. He was a gentle soul. He made a good impression on me. lol It reminds me of something I read. Avoid loud and aggressive persons for they are vexatious to the spirit. Its ironic for the loud usually crave attention and they wonder why others avoid them.

And, i'm quite the chatter-box Crying or Very sad

As far as examples that it is true about the more you talk, the less ppl. listen, well... it is so, in my own life, esp. among my siblings and me.

I am one of the more chatty, maybe even excitable of us (constantly being told to not talk so much). But, then one of my sisters scarcly speaks at all. Yet, it seems my mom always wants to talk to her!

To the greater extent I think these saying are true but there are exceptions. I once worked with a man like mercurial who was very soft spoken almost to the point of whispering. If anyone wanted to hear what he was saying they had to be very close to him. This made a lot of people uncomfortable. He was a wonderful man to work with and a very nice man but often even after being asked to speak louder it was still hard to hear him and after a while people just started tuning him out just like they would a person who talks all day about nothing.

Sometimes it is not how loud or soft you speak. Sometimes it is not how much or little you speak…it is what you speak.
