even though Socrates/Homer never wrote it down..... their principle occupation of the day was to wrangle the spoken word .... which is pretty much the same thing any writer of today (conversing on paper the way Socrates supposedly spoke) is publishing their thought.....
as to politicians,,, HA! it has always been their gravy boat to say in very exact words absolutely NOTHING of much honour....
seems to me, if folks would simply discuss what they have read, perhaps this same interchange would exist... BUT... fact of the matter is... a WHOLE LOT of folks don't bother to read (if they can)... and frighteningly, a whole lot of folks can't read...
which means ! the spoken interchange of thought and idea is still a very prevalent form of communication...
as to eradication of written word vastly provoking some wave of conscious human improvement in the realm of ethics... well, i don't see that happening...
in closing... without the written word... you would not be able to share your thoughts here... in any manner which would clearly demonstrate your meaning
just my kneejerk reaction here....
good luck writing that perfect book....
first ya gotta figure out perfect.... right? _________________ " The sorcerers in life are created within each of us" --- Lynn V. Andrews
I understand what you are saying about how so much is missed between the written word and the spoken word.
The deep roots that poetry and story telling have in the spoken word is just one of the beauties of those two forms of communication.
Think about this...imagine all that would be lost to us today if not for the written word.
Hugs,
