SWIFTWATERS INFO PAGE

June 18 - June 25, 2006 the ladies of Mels are meeting face to face..... here... after reading this basic page, goto the very first listing on the Melswebs Camp general page... read the Melswebs First Annual Campout Info page (the one with the sticky notice)... that should get you up to date as to where, when, why, etc.... got more questions? Just ask...


CAMPGROUND INFORMATION -
Always sign in upon arriving - Registration Office is open 24 hrs.
Pay when you check out...by check or cash

CAMPSITES - Mostly riverside. First come, first served. 22 acres
provides plenty of space. We never turn a camper away for lack of room.
Reservations not needed except for groups of 10 or more. -

FACILITIES - Hot shower, good drinking water - except Nov - April
Available all year: picnic tables, lantern posts, fire rings,
outhouses,

HOOKUPS - NONE. Tents, vans truck campers and small self-contained
units are welcome. Sorry, our road is not wide enough
to accommodate large RV's

Smoking OK anywhere on the grounds. Pick up a butt can at office

FIREW OOD - firewood is available at cost. $3 per armload

FISHING - is on the premises. Legally you should have a GA license and trout
stamp. The Etowah is a year-round trout stream...fly fishing is the best bet.

TOYS - Volleyball, Horseshoes, TUBES for river trips can be rented here in warm weather

PARKING - Parking area provided near but not in campsites
(unless you sleep in your vehicle).

PETS - Friendly dogs are welcome. Cats and other small pets are usually
not comfortable because of the dogs. We request a donation to our local
shelter if you bring a pet.

CHILDREN - A separate section near, but not directly on, the river has
been set aside for women with children...girls of all ages....boys up to
puberty. The only charge is $5 for children other than your own.

NUDITY is not permitted [except for toddlers, of course]. Please wear a
shirt or halter top. The river is public and we do have occasional helicopters.

DRINKING - in moderation is OK..... DRUNKENESS is definitely forbidden!

WEATHER - Usually 5 to 10 degrees cooler than Atlanta. Always be
prepared for rain with a tarp and rain gear. Camping can be fun in wet weather
if you are ready.

RATES: $15 per woman 1st night
$5 per night thereafter

PAYMENT - is by cash or check . WORK EXCHANGE is
always welcomed ... 2 hrs outdoor work =1 night of camping per person.

STORE - none on premises. Super Walmart in Dahlonega has everything you'll need..

HOURS - If you have never been to Swiftwaters,
plan to arrive during daylight hours so that you can set up before dark.

QUIET TIME - in campground - after 11p.m. as a courtesy to other campers please

DIRECTIONS: Swiftwaters Road is 7 miles WEST of Dahlonega, GA on Hwy 52.
