any suggestions for breakfast or dinner ladies? I'm thinking they will be communal...
pardon... i had to return to edit this.... breakfast and dinner forms best consumed with the use of knives, forks, spoons..... _________________ " The sorcerers in life are created within each of us" --- Lynn V. Andrews

Cave,
Coordination of food at camp always seems like the hardest part. Perhaps we plan for the first dinner and breakfast, then maybe we could have a meeting on that first afternoon to throw money into the kitty and coordinate the details of meals.
I'm wondering if anyone has any special food considerations...vegetarians, food allergies and the like.

How true............. me and Phyl do NOT eat red meat, actually we eat little meat at all.......... but we DO chow down on fish, LOTS of fish, lots of legumes, lots of fruit, lots of "spring greens"... and we'll be toting along at least 5# of whey protein...
your idea sounds excellent, plan dinner... sounds like most are arriving late afternoon Sunday... and to be honest, my first thought was as we drive into town, keep our eyes open for a nearby pizza joint and the liquor store.. or maybe i'll just ask Joyce if anybody delivers and that way all we gotta do is coordinate a liquor run..
ruh roh, just dawned on me, SUNDAY in Georgia... wonder if we CAN buy alcohol on Sunday?... hmmm... i need to do to some checking.. wow, this truck of mine is getting more and more loaded up...
which brings me to another question ........ who drinks what? beer? or wine?, who needs ice?
this is getting lengthy........... we're bringing a 12 inch cast iron skillet for sure... i'm trying to talk Phyl into bringing her beloved cast iron dutch oven which is PERFECTLY seasoned but i'm not having much luck and its not like i can just sneak it in.... but i'm gonna keep trying...
hopefully, somebody picks up on this from here before i exhaust some poor reader...

blueberry muffins!
scrambled eggs with ketchup!
I'm not scared to eat anything...but i will not eat bugs, frogs, liver, or anything moldy or still moving.
I am allergic to apples, pears, plums, and PEACHES.
I think hawn's idea is really good.

Excellent idea cave for pizza and adult beverages on the first night! And I agree with cc's breakfast...something simple with minimal prep. Coffee, though, is a deal breaker.
I don't drink beer, but will enjoy wine occasionally. Usually drink shots or stick with the caffeinated beverages...and thanks for the reminder that there are Sunday laws in the south...and dry counties even...I will have to prepare appropriately.
Oh, and I'm severely allergic to pecans.

Heh, I'm here...chicken shit tortillas sound delicious cave. The bonus is that the leftovers can be rehashed for breakfast. And stew is always good.
I will think about a few camp recipies, and I think everyone coming should think of at least a breakfast and a dinner to throw on the table (not literally). We can decide the realities when we get there and see...
How in the world did you get Phyllis to change her mind about the oven? Perfectly seasoned cast iron? At camp? Yeehaw...I'm not worried in the least...we gon' eat good.
ghost, wish you could be too

I dunno what changed her mind to be honest... we were running around doing errands talking about camp and i simply asked again if we could please bring the oven and she said "sure !" ..... we're also bringing the cast iron grill bottom skillet and i'm debating on picking up a new flat bottom cast iron skillet...
breakfast? i like eggs with onions and a bit of cheese but they never really keep me full so i usually stick to my oatmeal with cinnamon....
by the way, i eat 5 times a day... how many times do y'all eat?

almost forgot, we're also packing in two oven racks that we usually lay across the fire pit and go to town with... standard sized oven racks....

The dishwashing station is at the shower house. Joyce is looking into perhaps establishing one nearer the campground.

who likes what on their pizza?
and .... how many pieces do you want?
also............ beer.... what brand do you drink? I'm thinking of Sunday supper.....
me? I'll have 3L of wine chilled and ready... White Zinfandel most likely or maybe a blackberry merlot... pizza toppings = sausage, pepperoni, mushrooms, black olives, onions

I don't drink beer so don't worry about me in that regard. Maybe a glass of wine, or I'll pick up my own adult beverages on the way.
As for pizza...yeah, toppings sound good. How many slices though depends on how big the pizza is. If it's a 10" pizza, I could probably eat most of it. If it's a large, like from any major chain...then 3-4 I guess.
